The other week I took one of my clients to an open day at the L2 in Swansea a recreation area that includes a climbing wall, gym and a swimming area that to be truthful you cannot swim in as it has many slides, wave machines act.
So why mention it?
One part of this swimming area is made up of a circular run with two entrances, in this circular area is a current that you are meant to ride around. and because of this there is some strange counter currents at the entrance areas which moves out into the main wave pool.
Because of this there are an exceptional amount of lifeguards all poised and ready to assist any swimmer who may not be strong enough to counter these currents or get into difficulty; as I watched a young child got into some distress trying to exit and so the lifeguard swept into action bringing the child out and making sure they were safe. At the same time at the other entrance the same event was taking place and after making sure the child was safe looked around for the parent; it was the same mum who was very grateful to guards. But amazingly her actions not only surprised me but brought some words from both lifeguards questioning why, immediately she took them back into the area they had needed rescuing from.
It reminded us of our own condition in life caught up in the continuing cycle of repeated birth and death, happily enjoying the four fold miseries of life while claiming to be the enjoyers unaware of the dangers that are around us.
But also it reminded me of our conditioning and how very few of us come into contact with a self realized soul who can help us break this cycle and bring us into safety; and how there will always be those souls who after some time think that actually things weren’t that bad and return to the paroles of material life.
